Name:
Xuchilbara Drael Araleath
Guild / Church association:
Elven Priest of Kharach
Brief History
Borne of an obscure Elvish tribe, the Tribe Ku-Shaku, which has Nipponese roots but is now essentially Ithronianhe was chosen as an emissary to the world of humans at birth, hence his comprehension of Ithronian. After travelling some distance through forested land and co-operating peacably with dark elves on the way, he reached the edge of the forest to be set upon by ignorant, having mistaken him for a drow. After unpleasant interogation it was quickly ascertained that this was not the case and he was released, but his opinion of humans, with whom he'd had no contact previously, was forever tarnished. Consequently he sees them as brash, short-lived creatures and resents their control over the lands of Ithron. His grasp of human law and etiquette is somewhat limited, though thanks to his extensive studies into the language during his formative years, speaks very fluently. Upon learning how comparitively fleeting the lives of others could be he spent some time contemplating death itself, and came to terms with the fact that owing to his already comparitive long life of 189 years, he would see the deaths of many. Kharach's work would be all too familiar to him. As such, he joined the priesthood and began immediately studying and devoting all his energies into servitude of the Church. He also claims some sort of empathic link to other natural creatures which he holds accountable for his desire to show mercy and reduce pain wherever possible; the validity of this claim is questionanle, whilst his devotion to ensuring pain is minimised is not, and he often apologises for non-fatal wounds delivered before killing an opponent.
However, he fast became rather an overzealous figure, whose hatred of the Undead was only equalled, or perhaps even surpassed, by his hatred of heresy, and often jumps to conclusions in his eagerness to root out heretical behaviour-and put an end to it.
He considers things in utilitarian terms-halflings are useful cooks, dwarves are necessary for mining and doing the jobs too filthy for elves, half-elves are an effective front-line whom he regards with a playful disdain. He only begrudges humans their right to the lands of Ithron, seeing them as unworthy and inferior. He considers so-called dark elves and their ilk to be more in common with himself than humans-provided they are not worshippers of the Six. However, he's likely to pursue a course of fundementalist conversion rather than immediately attempt an attack in their case.
Drael was also recently wed to Mia Falls, a human sailor on board the Inferno. His motives are unclear, but he seems to have at least softened his prejudice about humans. Since then, giggles have been had about his at times ambiguous sexuality and rather prudish nature. However, as a condition of marriage, the captain would agree only if he became Cabin Boy-and since the contract is binding for a year and a day after the construction of the ship, he may be Cabin Boy until the captain's last breath.
Following a commendation from the Church of Kharach, he also became a Death Reaper, and so continues to serve in combat as well as through his bizarre claims of a vision from Kharach telling him to bake in honour of the Pantheon. He values members of the Churches of the Seven above others, regardless of social class.
